RunnerGirlFL – (RGFL) – that’s me!! I am Mighty!!

Randy – Randolph Ward Ertenberg (3/30/1978 – 1/29/2006) – One of my best friends who passed away from leukemia. My first running partner and who I run in honor of at races to benefit the Leukemia Lymphoma Society.

MagnetBabe – (MB) – fellow physicist, blogger, and one of my closest friends. It’s her fault I’m here.

Big Feet – (BF) – Littlest sister of Randy and now My friend.

FireGuy – Best Friend and Current Running Partner.

Leukemia Lymphoma Society – (L&LS) the world's largest voluntary health organization dedicated to funding blood cancer research, education, and patient services. The Society's mission: Cure leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin's disease and myeloma, and improve the quality of life of patients and their families.
This is a fantastic organization that I am a big supporter of!!

HCC – Hillsborough Community College – The local college where I teach Physics Classes in the evenings.

Society for Creative Anachronism – (SCA) - an international organization dedicated to researching and re-creating the arts and skills of pre-17th-century Europe.

Fighter Practice – Those of us in the SCA who enjoy reenacting the martial combat of medieval Europe often go to practice between actual events.

Fighter Guys – Any of the people who armor up and fight in the SCA (Note not all of the guys are actually guys but you get it) There is much overlap with the locals from this group and the football, and gaming groups.

Football Guys – Any of a group of friends that often get together to lament the Buccaneers, play flag football, or participate in our fantasy football leagues. (often also found at fighter practice and gaming)

Gaming Guys – Any of the gaming group who meets regularly to play role playing games. Currently this is a D20 StarWars Game. (still same group of geeks that fight and watch football)

The Family – (family dinner night) – Friends and I that make up a Household in the SCA – This is like the second family I got to pick. Dinner once a week to check in on Tuesdays and we take turns cooking real meals in our homes. Family Style. Good people!!

What's this all abaout anyway?!?!

This is a journal for a runner.

I had started running slowly with a friend just to be healthier. That friend passed away from Leukemia. Now I will run for the both of us, and all the others who cannot run right now or will never run again due to such horrible diseases. I will run the fund raisers that raise money for cancer research. The running community is one of the best ways to find these types of events, as well as promoting a lifestyle that reduces the risk of cancer.

I live in Tampa, Florida known as the lightning strike capital of the world and a city that is invaded by pirates every year!! Yes like ARRGG Pirates.

I have a Masters of Science degree in physics from the University of South Florida. I now teach Classes and Labs at the local community college and run my own home business. (Oh yeah, and I have a day job)

I grew up in a town about 90 miles south of Tampa. It is unique as it is one of the few places on the planet that you can find fossilized sharks teeth on the beach. I welcome any questions of comments on my training or on the events.
